HOSPICE CARE & PEACEFUL PASSINGS AT-HOME
We understand the many difficulties associated with senior animals when the end is in sight...
~ Our Pets Are Part of Our Families ~ We all desire a life of ~ Peace ~ Quality ~ ~ Dignity ~ ~Freedom from Suffering~
It is also an emotional time for human family members when a pet is coming to the end of their journey here with us. We want you to know that your are not alone in this challenging time ♥ We are available to assess a pet's quality of life with you, provide medications to address their possible pain & anxiety on those tougher days, or even to simply discuss where your pet & family may be at in this process, and how to navigate the many concerns with this period of their life.
HOSPICE CARE: This includes medical management and addressing the many senior needs as they can change quickly sometimes, and the whole process may seem like a roller coaster of good days & not so good days... when the time nears for a pet to pass from this world, we want the experience to be as comfortable and peaceful as possible for everyone. Sometimes pets need help with mobility issues or may be developing some cognitive dysfunction, experiencing senior moments of confusion or fear because of their fragility and vulnerability at this special time in their lives. By making housecalls, we can help problem-solve with you to see if we can accommodate their changing circumstances, when we might want to use ramps or may need to have some potty pads available for instance. We want them to know that we are here to help them as their friends, and that ultimately it's ok to let go when it's time to do so, that we will be ok, and we know they did the best job in the world taking care of us for all their years.
EUTHANASIA: Dr. Nichole Ramey is an active member of the Animal Hospice & Palliative Care Association, and follows their guidelines by using the highest quality medications for the several steps of the peacefully paced euthanasia process. This provides a way for our beloved pets to slowly find a calm & relaxed state of rest (an experience that so many companions have been struggling to find as they get close to the end). The medications allow a pet to enter a pain-free dream state, some even wagging their tails or snoring as they start to move past the earthly burdens of a body that could not last here forever... We do this so as to create an opportunity for them to ultimately pass away in their sleep (with our loving assistance) as we could only hope for any of our dear ones to do so. And when the time comes, your pet can leave this world while resting under their favorite tree in the yard, or any other special place in the privacy & familiar surroundings of your home or other special setting where they feel safe, and have shared so many memories & so much love with you.
AFTERCARE: After a pet leaves this world, aftercare arrangements can be made to suite your needs, from your own choice to provide a burial, to different cremation options. We believe in respecting the physical body even after an animal has passed, so we take extra steps to ensure your pet is always handled with compassion, by transporting them personally to the crematorium or we can provide specialty burial bags, and we only work with others who provide this same type of attention to detail. We can also deliver your pet's ashes to you if you choose to have them cremated and would like to spread them yourself or keep them with you, or there's an option to have them spread in the Pine River Valley if you would like that instead.
The most important thing is again to remember that you are not alone in this experience. I recently lost my dearest kitty ShortCake to a very rare form of cancer, so I know what you are going through. We empathize with the challenges and we are here to respect your choices, without judgement, and with the acceptance that every journey is unique and deeply personal. Please let us know how we can be of service to your family, as it is truly an honor to help care for your loved ones.
Sincerely ~ Dr Nichole Ramey & Staff of Ponderosa Pet
